Don Rafael emerged in May 2016 as UTZ Kapeu, in an attempt to unite the passion for quality coffee, the ideal of improving living conditions in Guatemala and boost consumption with awareness in the country. Through the years we have been evolving and finally settled with Café Don Rafael, in honor to our grandfather. He is a man who has dedicated his professional life as an agronomist to this noble crop, and thanks to him we continue this legacy.

Meet the family: Melanie, Clay and Danielle.
In 2016 Melanie decided to take a leap of faith and invested in a small coffee plantation on the slopes of the Agua Volcano.
After getting married in 2017, Clay and Danielle looked for investment opportunities and well ... why not invest and support in this small enterprise. Although they really enjoy a good cup of coffee, their true passion is people.

We are a family business that promotes great quality coffee and consumption with conscience. We produce, process, roast and sell the best coffee from Guatemala to create opportunities for others with less resources to access education. We also have the vision to make this business grow so we can create job opportunities in our community.

We are all called to serve in any way we can. Creating opportunities is not charity, it is an obligation (quoted from Ricardo Arjona). Serving and caring for one another can be achieved with simple, daily decisions. And this is what this project is about. We offer you the best coffee for you to enjoy. And while you consume it, you can be completely sure that you are helping Guatemalan children to have access to good education.
